Meister gibt Chefs Tipps

(BIBERACH/sz) - Eine Koryphäe der Blasmusikwelt hat die Region besucht. Dirigenten aus dem Blasmusik-Kreisverband Biberach und der weiteren Umgebung machten eine Fortbildung bei dem aus den USA stammenden und international bekannten Dirigenten, Komponisten und Musiktheoriker Professor James Barnes.

Die Begegnung fand im Rahmen einer Dirigentenfortbildung im Atrium der Gebhard-Müller-Schule in Biberach statt. Barnes ist auf Einladung des Musikverlags Rundel aus Rot an der Rot nach Deutschland gekommen. Das Interesse der Fortbildungsteilnehmer galt zunächst der Vorstellung seiner Kompositionen. Danach arbeitete James Barnes mit der Kreisjugendmusikkapelle Biberach, über deren Leistungsstand er sich sehr lobend äußerte. Anschließend gab er mehreren Dirigenten konkrete Tipps zur Verbesserung von Orchesterarbeit und Dirigiertechnik.

Einstimmen des Orchesters, Intonation, Klangausgleich und Registerbalance waren nur einige Themen, zu denen James Barnes die große Schatzkiste seiner Erfahrung öffnete. Beeindruckt waren alle Teilnehmer auch von der Persönlichkeit Barnes, der durch Souveränität, Offenheit, Humor, Warmherzigkeit und Bescheidenheit überzeugte.

Composer James Barnes (USA) at Klang-Werkstatt "Thomas Wieser"  

The American composer and conductor James Barnes is a guest of Klang-Werkstatt Thomas Wieser on Sunday, June 7th. That means that one of the most famous and successful composers of the band scene worldwide will hold a workshop at Klang-Werkstatt. James Barnes is Division Director for Music Theory and Composition at the University of Kansas and a very popular clinician all over the world (USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Taiwan). Barnes composed many works for concert band, such as Appalachian Overture, Yorkshire Ballade, Symphonic Overture, Alvamar Overture, Paganini Variations and many more.

Schedule:
Morning: Basics about his compositions, his music, his way of composing and presentation of new works. It is to be hoped that the participants contribute by asking their questions. During the afternoon the works of James Barnes can be rehearsed with the Jugend-Blasorchester Marktoberdorf.

Each participant will be able to tell his wishes and ask his questions concerning the workshop at the registration. Due to the local conditions a timely registration is required.

Beginning of workshop: 9am
Lunch break: 12am to approx. 1.30pm
End of workshop: approx. 4.30pm
